The landscape of Spiti is similar
to that of Ladakh which it borders and so is its culture
and tradition. Spiti is approached from the Changthang
plains and supports a small population. Spiti is also
home to Tabo one of the oldest monasteries in the
Western Himalayas. The other monasteries here are
the dramatically located Dhankar, Kungri, and Ki monasteries.
Himalaya Kingdom offers one of the most enchanting
treks into Spiti from Ladakh visiting the huge Tso
Moriri lake Enroute and ending at Kibber village said
to be the highest permanently inhabited village in
the world. While the main crops in Spiti are the same
as that in Zanskar namely barley, peas and wheat,
the economy is now witnessing a spurt in tourism.
Spiti also offers a few treks in the region some leading
into the next district of Kinnaur.
